Focusing on promoting and enhancing the brand of durian and tourism

Dak Lak PPC has recently held a meeting to review and finalize draft plan for the first Dak Lak Provincial Durian Festival 2026.

The draft plan for the first Dak Lak Provincial Durian Festival in 2026, is themed “Dak Lak Durian - Connecting and Reaching Further”, and is expected to take place from August 15th to September 2nd, 2026. The festival will be concentrated in Buon Ma Thuot ward, Krong Pac commune, Tuy Hoa ward, along with durian-growing localities across province.

The festival tends to promote the Dak Lak durian brand, honor farmers, and encourage investment alongside export contract signing. In particular, the festival aims to be a pioneer in digital transformation while standardising export processes according to the criteria of the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC).

According to the draft, the festival includes a series of activities: “Durian Pollination” Tour (April 2026); Talk show on food and nutrition (May - June 2026); press conferences together with promotional activities for Dak Lak durian in Hanoi and Dak Lak (August 2026). Main activities during the festival include: Opening ceremony at March 10th Square; Pickup Truck Parade; Durian fair – featuring gifts, OCOP products, and agricultural products from Dak Lak province, with 400 booths; Specialized durian trade conference; Durian culinary festival; an auction of durian products from orchards; Grand music festival along with international DJs; Tuy Hoa Half Marathon tournament; durian tasting tours at orchards; together with art and fashion shows themed on durian and traditional brocade fashion.

Addressing the meeting, PPC Vice Chairman, comrade Dao My emphasized: The first Durian Festival 2026 is a provincial-level event with great significance in promoting the province’s agricultural product brand. Therefore, the organization must ensure substance and effectiveness, absolutely avoiding formality or waste.

Vice Chairman Dao My requested the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to incorporate feedback as well as promptly finalize the summary report of the draft plan; assigned the Department of Finance to coordinate in reviewing the budget balance alongside mechanism for managing mobilized funds. Regarding the specialized durian trade conference, it was agreed that the Department of Agriculture and Environment would take the lead. Tourism promotion activities needing to be organized before the festival should be planned along with implemented promptly. Communication efforts must ensure substance and avoid formality.
