Agreement on the list of candidates for deputies to the 16th National Assembly and deputies to the provincial People’s Council, 2026-2031 term

On February 10, the Standing Committee of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee convened the third consultative conference to agree on the list of individuals eligible to stand as candidates for deputies to the 16th National Assembly (NA) and deputies to the 11th provincial People’s Council (PC) for the 2026-2031 term.

At the conference, the Standing Committee of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee reported on the situation and results of organising the collection of comments and confidence votes from voters at places of residence for NA deputy candidates and provincial PC deputy candidates, and presented the list of individuals proposed for nomination to the NA and the provincial PC.

Accordingly, following the second consultative conference, from February 4 to 8, the Standing Committee of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee directed commune-level Fatherland Front Committees, in coordination with the People’s Committees at the same level, to preside over conferences to collect comments and confidence votes from voters at places of residence at 21 villages, hamlets, residential groups and neighbourhoods in eight communes and wards across the province for 21 of the 22 candidates for the 16th NA.

Voters at places of residence expressed a high level of confidence in all 21 individuals introduced for candidacy, with the confidence rate reaching 100%.

Based on the results of the second consultative conference, commune-level Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees and relevant agencies, units and organisations organised conferences to collect comments from voters at places of residence for 144 candidates for deputies to the provincial PC for the 2026-2031 term, and, in coordination with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Gia Lai province, collected comments at the place of residence for one candidate for the Dak Lak provincial PC who is residing in Quy Nhon Nam ward, Gia Lai province.

Accordingly, all conferences to collect comments and confidence votes from voters at places of residence unanimously recorded a high level of confidence in all 144 candidates for deputies to the provincial PC for the 2026-2031 term.

The conference agreed with the results of the collection of comments and confidence votes from voters at places of work and residence for 21 individuals introduced as candidates for the 16th NA and 141 individuals meeting the standards for nomination as candidates for deputies to the 11th provincial PC for the 2026-2031 term, and voted to approve the proposal of the Standing Committee of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee not to include in the official list three NA candidates and three provincial PC candidates for the 2026-2031 term, in accordance with their applications for withdrawal. The conference agreed to establish a list of 19 individuals meeting the standards to be introduced as candidates for the 16th NA and 141 individuals meeting the standards to stand as candidates for deputies to the provincial PC for the 2026-2031 term.

Addressing at the conference, Cao Thi Hoa An, Member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairperson of the provincial People’s Council, and Chairperson of the Provincial Election Council highly commended the sense of responsibility, focus and strong consensus of the delegates, which made an important contribution to the success of the third consultative conference. She emphasised that the selection and introduction of candidates is an honourable but highly responsible task, requiring careful consideration to select truly deserving individuals who meet the trust and expectations of the people.

Concluding the conference, Y Giang Gry Nie Knong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairperson of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, stated that after the conference, the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee would finalise the dossiers and lists of eligible candidates and submit them to the competent authorities in accordance with prescribed procedures and timelines.
