Maintaining the people’s security posture for election day

In preparation for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly along with representatives of People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026 - 2031 tenure, the armed forces of Dak Lak Province are implementing various measures aimed at ensuring security and social order.

Dak Lak holds a strategic position regarding national defence together with security. For that reason, safeguarding political stability alongside social order and safety during the election has been identified as a key task for relevant forces.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Truong Duc Truong, Deputy Head of the Internal Security Division under the provincial Police Department, functional forces have coordinated with more than 1,800 religious dignitaries together with over 1,000 reputable community figures to disseminate information while encouraging residents to participate in the election in line with regulations.

Beyond remote areas, security measures have also been reinforced in border communes. In Ia Rve Commune, where residents live scattered among vast dipterocarp forests, communal police officers must ride motorbikes for hours along red-dirt roads to reach villages and explain the election process to residents. Thanks to these efforts, most voters in the commune clearly understand both the voting schedule and polling locations.

So far, more than 2,000 polling stations across Dak Lak Province have completed security protection plans. Around 10,000 officers and personnel from the police, military, border guard, militia, self-defence forces alongside medical teams are ready to carry out their duties, ensuring absolute safety for election day.

Ready for the nation’s election day

Parallel with communication activities, plans to ensure security and public order have also been implemented in a coordinated manner. Since the beginning of 2026, the police of Dak Lak Province have established 10 task forces comprising more than 320 officers and soldiers deployed to grassroots areas to review the situation, promptly detect potential risks while handling emerging issues.

In Buon Ma Thuot Ward, the police force has launched a comprehensive residence inspection campaign while reviewing population data to ensure that no eligible citizen is overlooked in exercising voting rights. An automated chatbot system along with QR codes for information lookup has also been introduced on the official information portal of the ward police, enabling voters to easily check polling locations or access election-related information through just a few simple steps.

In addition, efforts to combat harmful and malicious information in cyberspace have received special attention from the police of Dak Lak Province. Lieutenant Colonel Tran Tuan, Deputy Head of the Cybersecurity and High-Tech Crime Prevention Division under the Provincial Police Department, said: “In recent times, the cybersecurity force has intensified monitoring activities, promptly detecting while handling cases involving the posting of false information related to the election. Simultaneously, we have worked to promote positive information so that residents can access official sources, thereby preventing misleading narratives from causing confusion among voters”.

Major General Phan Thanh Tam, Director of the Provincial Police Department, emphasised: “We are determined to grasp the situation early and from a distance, ensuring no circumstance catches us unprepared. Every officer and soldier serves not only as a protector but also as a communicator, maintaining disciplined conduct alongside professional manners to best support citizens in exercising voting rights. At polling stations, rapid-response teams together with fire prevention, firefighting, rescue and relief plans have been thoroughly rehearsed. All efforts are directed toward one goal: absolute safety, democracy alongside full legal compliance”.
