Focusing preparations for successful elections of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term

On January 29, the Provincial Steering Committee for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term (hereinafter referred to as the Provincial Election Steering Committee) held fourth meeting to roll out key tasks and agenda items.

The meeting was chaired by comrade Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, a member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Head of the Provincial Election Steering Committee.

Dak Lak Province is actively preparing for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and to People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term, ensuring compliance with the prescribed timeline and regulations.

Across the province, five election committees for National Assembly deputies, 27 election committees for Provincial People’s Council deputies, and 819 commune-level election committees have been established. The review of the structure and composition of candidates has been carried out rigorously. As of January 28, 2026, the Provincial Election Committee had received dossiers from 14 of 22 candidates for National Assembly deputies and 85 of 149 candidates for the Provincial People’s Council. At the commune level, election committees had received dossiers from 2,344 of 4,336 candidates for commune-level People’s Councils, while training courses were organized for more than 1,000 officials involved in election-related work.

The Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, the People’s Council and the PPC have stepped up inspection as well as supervision, while the Provincial Public Security force and the provincial Military Command have proactively ensured security and public order, while preparing contingency plans for natural disasters and disease outbreaks.

In preparation for Election Day on March 15, 2026, the province is focusing on holding the second round of consultations no later than February 3, 2026; completing the receipt of candidate dossiers by February 1, 2026; publicly posting the voter list by February 3, 2026; and stepping up communications on eligibility standards for deputies, electoral procedures and citizens’ rights.

In directive remarks at the conference, comrade Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, a member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Head of the Provincial Election Steering Committee, acknowledged the efforts of members of the provincial Election Steering Committee and localities across the province.

Emphasizing that the next phase will be a critical and decisive period requiring a high level of focus, responsibility and close coordination across the entire local political system, the Head of the Provincial Election Steering Committee called on Party committees, authorities, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and mass organizations at all levels to strengthen coordination, proactively implement assigned tasks in strict compliance with regulations and timelines, and promptly address difficulties and obstacles arising at the grassroots level.
