Focus intensifies on the preparations for the election

The Steering Committee for the Election of Deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 tenure of Dak Lak province, hereafter referred to as the provincial Election Steering Committee, convened its fifth meeting to implement key tasks.

A report presented at the meeting stated that Dak Lak province has to date carried out preparations for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 tenure in a serious manner, ensuring compliance with the prescribed schedule and regulations.

The provincial Election Commission has finalised and announced the official list of 25 candidates for deputies to the 16th National Assembly across five constituencies to elect 15 National Assembly deputies; and 141 candidates for deputies to the provincial People’s Council across 27 constituencies to elect 84 deputies to the 11th provincial People’s Council for the 2026-2031 tenure. At commune level, 65 out of 102 commune and ward Election Commissions have announced the official list of candidates for People’s Council deputies for the 2026-2031 tenure; the remaining 37 communes and wards are expediting the process and will complete it no later than February 26, 2026.

Province-wide, there are currently 2,119 polling stations across 102 communes and wards, with 2,118 election teams established. All communes and wards have coordinated with the police to review, compile and publicly post voter lists in accordance with the prescribed time. The provincial Election Steering Committee and the Standing Committee of the provincial People’s Council have organised inspection teams to review election preparations in all 102 communes and wards, promptly reminding and rectifying issues requiring further improvement to ensure uniform implementation.

In his directive remarks at the meeting, comrade Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Head of the provincial Election Steering Committee, stressed that the period from now until March 15, 2026 constitutes the decisive final stage in preparing key steps of the electoral process. Accordingly, party committees, agencies, units and localities must heighten their sense of responsibility, act proactively and decisively in leadership and direction, and ensure that every stage of the electoral process is implemented in accordance with the law, on schedule, safely, democratically and cost-effectively.

Election Commissions at all levels are required to promptly complete the compilation and posting of voter and candidate lists, and to strengthen communication on the election day. Agencies, units and localities are to continue intensifying information and visual communication activities, and ensure adequate facilities, funding and necessary conditions to serve the election. Socio-political organisations are tasked with developing specific plans and assigning responsibilities in communication and voter mobilisation to encourage participation in the election.

Luong Nguyen Minh Triet requested that the police and military forces develop plans to ensure security and order; the health sector prepare disease prevention and control measures; and relevant agencies ensure uninterrupted communications in service of the election. Localities are to establish and consolidate hotlines before, during and after election day in order to promptly receive and address emerging information, intensify inspection and supervision, and promptly settle complaints and denunciations, thereby contributing to the successful organisation of the election in the province in strict compliance with the law and ensuring it is truly a festival of the entire people.
