Provincial Party Secretary conducts on-site inspection of aquaculture farming areas

Member of the Party Central Committee, Provincial Party Secretary and Head of the Provincial National Assembly Deputies Delegation, comrade Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, recently conducted field inspections at province-wide several aquaculture zones.

During the visit, the delegation examined fish-cage systems and floating farming facilities, assessed stocking density, reviewed environmental management in aquaculture areas, as well as received updates on implementation of the provincial Master Plan for Aquaculture Development for 2021-2025, with a vision toward 2030 (Project 190), in Xuan Dai Bay and Vung Ro Bay.

According to reports, Xuan Dai Bay is currently home to approximately 2,500 aquaculture households operating around 100,000 fish cages while floating farming structures. Local authorities are developing plans to reorganise farming areas, address violations, and seek provincial support for the installation of planning boundary markers.

As of May 2026, Vung Ro Bay had 603 cage-farm owners operating 37,812 aquaculture cages. Local authorities have completed inventory alongside inspection work, strictly controlled the establishment of new cages, gradually reorganised farming zones in line with Project 190, and strengthened marine waste collection efforts.

Addressing the working session, Party Central Committee member, Provincial Party Secretary and Head of the Provincial National Assembly Deputies Delegation, comrade Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, stressed that revisions to Project 190 must remain practical as well as consistent with provincial planning. He also called for a new approach to aquaculture governance centred on sustainable development, balancing local livelihoods with environmental stewardship while maximising marine tourism potential.

Comrade Luong Nguyen Minh Triet requested a comprehensive review combined with scientific reorganisation of aquaculture areas, including clearly defined boundaries, digitalised management systems, suitable site allocation, and stringent measures to prevent a recurrence of uncontrolled expansion. Concurrently, he urged stronger public awareness campaigns on environmental protection alongside more effective waste-treatment measures.

The Provincial Party Secretary further directed relevant agencies to accelerate investment in inland waterway terminals, formulate a tourism development scheme built around aquaculture-based experiential tourism, strengthen oversight of marine service businesses, while developing appropriate regulatory mechanisms for spontaneously emerging activities in order to ensure visitor safety.

He emphasised that Vung Ro Bay and Xuan Dai Bay possess considerable potential for tourism along with service-sector growth and could emerge as new engines of provincial development. Accordingly, development space should be reorganised in accordance with approved planning; fisheries should advance along a sustainable trajectory linked with environmental protection; local strengths and comparative advantages should be fully leveraged; alongside a distinctive “Lobster Capital” brand should be cultivated in support of marine economic development and sustainable tourism.
