Dak Lak seeks to showcase highland stories, blue seas on Discovery

Dak Lak PPC recently held a working session with Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD), led by Mr. Andrew White, Vice President of the group.

At the meeting, Andrew White said Discovery, a US television network owned by Discovery Inc., became part of Warner Bros. Discovery following Discovery Inc.’s merger with WarnerMedia in May 2022.

WBD operates a diverse portfolio spanning television, film and digital content across more than 220 countries and territories in 50 languages. Its prominent brands include Discovery Channel, Discovery+, CNN, Eurosport, HBO and Travel Channel, etc.

In Vietnam, Discovery has produced documentaries covering coffee, technological revolutions, telecommunications and the automotive industry.

Dak Lak PPC Chairman, comrade Do Huu Huy said the province boasts distinctive natural landscapes alongside a range of signature agricultural products including coffee, durian and tuna. Buon Ma Thuot, in particular, is widely recognised as the birthplace of some of the world’s finest Robusta coffee.

Dak Lak also boasts rich cultural diversity, notably the Space of Gong Culture in the Central Highlands and the Art of Bai Choi, a traditional performing art from Central Viet Nam. Both have been inscribed by UNESCO on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The province offers numerous destinations suited to international visitors and hopes WBD platforms will showcase its highland stories and blue seas to global audiences. Distinctive landscapes and ecosystems at Yok Don and Chu Yang Sin national parks, together with Dak Lak’s elephant herds, could also serve as spectacular backdrops for Discovery productions.

Dak Lak is also seeking WBD cooperation in digital media promotion, investment attraction for cultural and resort-tourism ecosystems aligned with provincial potential, alongside advice and support for destination promotion, international visitor attraction.

WBD executives said Dak Lak’s natural landscapes and cultural heritage are highly compelling, deserving wider global exposure across diverse formats and platforms. Such coverage could capture audience interest, generate international attention and ultimately encourage more visitors to experience and explore the province.

Following the meeting, Dak Lak authorities and WBD reached an initial understanding on promoting Buon Ma Thuot Coffee - The capital of the world’s finest coffee alongside Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival 2027 as an immediate cooperation priority.
