Cooperation between the Dak Lak PPC and Save the Children Vietnam is bringing about positive changes while expanding opportunities for children province-wide to develop to their full potential.
Ms. H My Mlo, a resident of Kdro hamlet in Krong Buk commune, said her family had received training in child protection, first aid as well as drowning prevention since joining the project “Strengthening Capacity and Promoting Child Protection Practices in Coffee Production”, funded by Save the Children Vietnam. The family also pledged to ensure a safe working environment. Mechanisation has reduced the household’s labour burden, allowing the children to attend school, while they are encouraged to do only age-appropriate household chores.

Ms. H My Mlo’s family is among thousands of households benefiting from the project. Across five key areas involving Cu Bao ward and the communes of Cuor Dang, Ea Drong, Ea Tul combined with Krong Buk, the project has reached and directly benefited more than 9,500 people, including over 7,000 children.
In 2023, the Dak Lak PPC coupled with Save the Children Vietnam signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU). During the 2024 - 2026 period, the two sides developed a coordinated programme of cooperation that better addresses the needs of children and local communities.
“The greatest value of this partnership lies not only in the resources mobilised, but also in the shared commitment, close collaboration and joint efforts to create a safe alongside equal living environment for children” said Ms. Le Thi Thanh Huong, Representative of Save the Children Vietnam.
With total support worth 68.77 billion VND for long-term development projects and emergency relief, the cooperation programme has delivered tangible results across several areas. In school health care together with nutrition, 17 schools across the province have received investment in clean water facilities, standard-compliant toilets and modern semi-boarding kitchens. As a result, the proportion of children washing their hands properly has risen from 25.8% to 68%, while the prevalence of underweight children has fallen significantly.

“Dak Lak province pledges to continue creating the most favourable conditions for cooperation programmes with Save the Children Vietnam to be implemented effectively, helping build safe living as well as learning environments for children while strengthening communities’ resilience to emerging challenges” Comrade Nguyen Thien Van, Dak Lak PPC Vice Chairman. |
In remote along with disadvantaged communes comprising Ea Sup and M’Drak, tens of thousands of pregnant women and newborns from ethnic minority communities have also gained access to quality healthcare services. Grassroots healthcare capacity coupled with networks have been strengthened, contributing to a sharp decline in neonatal mortality.
Under the cooperation agreement between the PPC and Save the Children Vietnam, families alongside children severely affected by storms and floods in late 2025 also received more than 6.66 billion VND worth of food, essential supplies and clean water.
Looking ahead, the strategic partnership is set to open up new opportunities during 2026 - 2028, with Save the Children Vietnam pledging more than 41 billion VND to fund two projects in the province.
