However, participation rates in the surveyed localities remain low compared with the targets. Several residents have yet to fully understand the significance and benefits of periodic health check-ups, while communication activities in some residential areas have not been conducted regularly. In addition, there is still confusion between the free periodic health check-up coupled with screening programme alongside routine medical examinations and treatment, as well as programmes combining health check-ups with medicine and gift distribution.
Comrade Cao Thi Hoa An acknowledged the efforts made by health workers and local authorities in implementing periodic health check-ups while screening for residents. She also called on localities to step up communication and public outreach, clearly explaining the programme’s significance together with benefits so that residents better understand its value and proactively participate.
Localities facing difficulties should proactively coordinate with the health sector to find appropriate solutions and organise check-ups flexibly, including group examinations at commune health stations, mobile examinations in residential areas along with home visits for vulnerable groups. These efforts aim to meet the planned targets for health check-ups and screening, thereby improving primary healthcare quality while ensuring residents’ right to healthcare.
