The Provincial Party Standing Committee recently held a working session with the Department of Science and Technology (S&T) to review the implementation of science, technology, innovation alongside digital transformation (STIDT) tasks during the first half (H1) of 2026 while identifying priorities for the remainder of the year.

According to the report, throughout H1 2026, the S&T Department proactively advised on and implemented STIDT tasks in a comprehensive combined with coordinated manner, surpassing numerous targets set by the Provincial Steering Committee as well as the PPC. Digital infrastructure continued improving, with fibre-optic coverage reaching 100% of villages and hamlets while 4G mobile services became available across all residential areas. In the field of S&T together with innovation, the department carried out 22 research projects and completed acceptance procedures for 19. Training coupled with professional development for officials reached 114.5% of the annual target. Support programmes supporting enterprises coupled with innovation-driven start-ups were further expanded.
During the working session, delegates reviewed implementation progress during H1, analysed existing shortcomings alongside their underlying causes, and proposed solutions to enhance the effectiveness of STIDT in the months ahead.
In his concluding remarks, Provincial Party Secretary, comrade Luong Nguyen Minh Triet acknowledged along with commended the department's achievements despite ongoing challenges relating to human resources, institutional mechanisms as well as increasing workloads. He instructed the S&T Department to urgently review and streamline its organisational structure, improve workforce quality alongside complete the provincial policy framework governing STIDT. He also called for accelerating implementation of the Digital Economy Project and the 100-day intensive campaign to remove digital transformation bottlenecks, fast-track investment disbursement while prioritising strategic projects involving data, AI, digital infrastructure together with IT equipment.
The Provincial Party Secretary further directed the department to develop an integrated provincial database, improve the quality combined with practical effectiveness of online public services, promote innovation-driven entrepreneurship, strengthen digital human resource development, and enhance policy advisory capacity, information management as well as reporting. These efforts are expected to ensure effective implementation of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW while reinforcing digital economy as a key growth driver for the province.
