On the occasion of the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2026), a delegation of Dak Lak province undertook a commemorative journey to the historic land of Quang Tri.

The delegation respectfully laid flowers and offered incense at Truong Son National Martyrs' Cemetery, Road 9 National Martyrs' Cemetery, alongside the Quang Tri Citadel Special National Relic Site. These sacred historical sites preserve the heroic memories as well as immense sacrifices made during the national struggle to defend the country.

Comrade Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Head of the Provincial National Assembly Deputies' Delegation, offering incense at the grave of a martyr from former Phu Yen, now part of Dak Lak province, at the Truong Son National Martyrs' Cemetery.

Truong Son National Martyrs' Cemetery is the final resting place of more than 10,200 officers and soldiers who laid down their lives along the legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail. Road 9 National Martyrs' Cemetery commemorates nearly 11,000 officers, soldiers combined with youth volunteers who fell on the Road 9 battlefield and in Laos. Concurrently, Quang Tri Citadel stands as an enduring symbol of the heroic 81-day battle in the summer of 1972, where every inch of ground bears witness to the sacrifice of fallen soldiers.

Comrade Nguyen Dinh Vien, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Chief of the Provincial Party Committee Office, shared: "I have visited Quang Tri many times, yet each visit leaves me deeply moved. Standing before the graves of thousands of martyrs, I appreciate even more profoundly the value of peace while recognising more clearly the responsibility of today's generation to safeguard and build our homeland in a manner worthy of the sacrifices made by previous generations".

Carrying forward the tradition of remembrance

Comrade Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Head of the Provincial National Assembly Deputies' Delegation, affirmed that the commemorative journey to Quang Tri offered an opportunity for the Party organisation, authorities together with people of all ethnic groups in Dak Lak to express their profound respect and gratitude to the heroic martyrs. The programme also reinforced national enduring traditions of remembering those who came before as well as honouring those who sacrificed for the country. Simultaneously, it contributes to educating younger generations about patriotism, fostering national pride while inspiring self-reliance, resilience and the aspiration to contribute among cadres, Party members as well as people from all walks of life.

In recent years, the province has consistently prioritised policies for people with meritorious service to the revolution through a wide range of practical initiatives, including providing lifelong care for Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, construction and renovation of Gratitude Houses, support policy beneficiary families, war invalids, sick soldiers together with martyrs' relatives, restoration of memorial sites, preservation of martyrs' cemeteries, along with organising commemorative activities during major holidays, Tet alongside War Invalids and Martyrs Day.

In particular, the province is implementing the 500-day campaign to search for and recover the remains of fallen soldiers, drawing participation from the entire political system, the armed forces alongside local communities. Every set of remains returned home not only helps ease the pain of war and fulfils the wishes of martyrs' families, but also stands as a testament to the responsibility, compassion as well as profound gratitude of today's generation towards those who devoted their lives to the nation.

Inspired by this spirit of gratitude, every cadre, Party member and resident is encouraged to uphold the tradition of patriotism, cherish the value of peace, nurture the aspiration to contribute while joining hands to build Dak Lak into arapidly and sustainably developing province, advancing confidently along with the nation into a novel era of development.
