Dak Lak's livestock sector is undergoing a strong transformation, shifting from small-scale to large-scale, concentrated farms applying modern technology.
Dak Lak province possesses unique advantages to become a livestock farming center for the South Central and Central Highlands regions, with vast land resources and favorable natural conditions for building industrial-scale farms.
To effectively capitalize on this advantage, the province has issued a comprehensive system of guiding documents, focusing on the Livestock Development Strategy for the period of 2021-2030, with a vision to 2045. The province's current policy focuses on systematically planning the development space, allocating approximately 7,594 hectares of land specifically for concentrated livestock farming by 2030. The locality prioritizes attracting investment in the western communes and areas bordering Cambodia such as Ea Bung, Ia Rvê, Ea H’leo, Ea M’Droh, etc., to optimize land use efficiency and ensure national defense and security requirements. The Provincial People's Committee has directed relevant departments and localities to review, support, and resolve difficulties and obstacles, creating favorable conditions for implementing of concentrated livestock farming projects and farms in the province. In particular, the province focuses on high-tech application projects based on the circular economy and green economy model to guide livestock farmers in production to meet market demands.

According to Mr. Nguyen Minh Huan, Director of the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment, livestock farming is an important production sector, accounting for approximately 20% of agricultural production value, ranking the second in the sectoral structure. During the recent years, livestock farming in the province has gradually shifted towards industrial-scale farms, applying high technology, linked to production organization along the value chain, ensuring biosafety, and expanding the application of VietGAP livestock farming processes to improve efficiency and sustainability.
Realizing high-tech projects
The vigorous implementation of investment attraction policies has yielded concrete results, with the province currently having 66 livestock projects approved for investment/registration certificates, covering a total area of approximately 4,941 hectares and a total investment capital of approximately 10,121 billion VND. To date, 28 projects have been completed and are operational, creating momentum to promote the development of the livestock industry towards professionalism.
The mark of high technology is clearly demonstrated through typical projects, such as the poultry egg incubation plant of Japfa Comfeed Vietnam Group in Pơng Drang commune. With a total investment of over 130 billion VND, this is the first plant in Vietnam to apply infrared beak cutting technology and InOvo vaccine injection with a capacity of 70,000 eggs/hour. Each month, the factory supplies over 2.4 million high-quality breeding stock, forming a closed value chain from the parent chicken farm in Ea Tul commune to affiliated farms.
In addition, the livestock project of DHN Dak Lak High-Tech Agricultural Development Joint Stock Company in Ea M'Droh commune is also a successful example. With a system of grandparent and great-grandparent breeding pigs imported from Canada, the project has currently had over 2,700 breeding sows and over 9,000 gilts, supplying the market with over 10,000 breeding pigs annually.
Furthermore, the duck breeding farm project of Hoa Thang Livestock Company Limited in Ea O commune is expected to supply approximately 8 million breeding ducks per year when it becomes operational.
The participation of large enterprises not only improves the productivity and quality of livestock but also promotes the model of production linkage along the value chain. Currently, eight businesses are implementing contract farming for pigs and chickens, helping farmers access advanced techniques and create sustainable value chains. These projects are the foundation for Dak Lak province to overcome difficulties and build disease-free livestock farming areas according to international standards to serve domestic and export needs.
