Two key transport projects recently approved in principle by the Dak Lak PPC are expected to help complete the transport infrastructure network, strengthen connectivity and expand the provincial socio-eco development space.
The project to build a road connecting the endpoint of the Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot Expressway with the East - West Road has a total investment of 1.730 trillion VND and is scheduled for implementation during 2026 - 2029. The route will extend for more than 5 km, with a 70-metre-wide roadbed alongside a design speed of 80 km/h.
Once operational, the road will serve as a direct link between the Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot Expressway and the urban transport network, while improving connectivity with the future Western North - South Expressway (Pleiku - Buon Ma Thuot - Gia Nghia), National Road 27 and Buon Ma Thuot Airport.

Also approved in principle for investment, the Buon Ma Thuot Ring Road 2 project will stretch for more than 28 km. It will provide seamless connections between major transport routes, including National Road 14, Provincial Road 1, Provincial Road 5, Provincial Road 8 and National Road 26, along with the Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot Expressway. Once completed, the road is expected to ease traffic pressure in the city centre and unlock land resources along the route, paving the way for new residential areas combined with commercial and service centres.
Assessing the significance of the projects, Mr. Nguyen Tai Minh, Deputy Director of the Provincial Project Management Board for Transport and Rural Development Construction Investment (Board A), said they aim to establish an interconnected network transport corridors, enhance traffic capacity and maximise the benefits of the expressway network. This would facilitate goods circulation, attract investment resources as well as drive the development of trade, services and provincial socio-eco development as a whole.
Proactively advancing project preparations
As the agency managing both projects, Board A is expediting investment preparation procedures and working closely with local authorities to review affected areas as well as draw up site clearance plans. The board has proactively provided local authorities with route alignment data and land acquisition boundary markers. On this basis, localities along the routes can promptly review existing land use, buildings along with the number of affected households. The first handovers of cleared land are expected to take place in sections where conditions are favourable around the third quarter of 2027. The remaining sites will be handed over in phases, with the process targeted for completion by the end of 2027.

However, field surveys indicate that site clearance may encounter difficulties along certain sections, particularly where the route passes through an industrial park and densely populated areas near the endpoint of the road linking the expressway with the East - West Road.
According to Mr. Nguyen Tai Minh, Deputy Director of Board A, the board will mobilise personnel to finalise project documentation and accelerate investment procedures, while working closely with local authorities to address difficulties involving site clearance coupled with resettlement. Any issues arising during implementation will be promptly discussed and resolved, ensuring the necessary conditions are in place for construction to begin as soon as the site is handed over, while meeting quality and schedule requirements as well as complying with legal regulations.
