On the morning of September 5, as schools nationwide joined in the excitement of the new academic year, Dak Lak Province held the opening ceremony for the 2026 - 2027 academic year, alongside the inauguration of inter-level boarding schools in mainland border communes at Buon Don Primary and Lower Secondary Boarding School in Buon Don Commune.

The policy to build inter-level boarding schools across 248 mainland border communes was set out in the Politburo's Conclusion under Notice No. 81-TB/TW dated July 18, 2025. In Dak Lak, four of the five projects in the border communes, involving Buon Don, Ia R've, Ia Lop and Ea Rok were completed ahead of schedule as well as put into use for the 2026 - 2027 school year.

Buon Don Primary and Lower Secondary Boarding School was built under Phase 1 with total investment exceeding 158 billion VND. For the 2026 - 2027 school year, the school has 1,137 students across 41 classes, including 136 boarding students coupled with 1,001 semi-boarding students.

In particular, to ensure the safety of students from villages located more than 10 km from campus, the school has arranged transportation. During the rainy season, border guard, police and medical personnel coordinate closely to maintain security, provide healthcare, maintain facilities and ensure a backup power supply.

At the ceremony, delegates cut the ribbon to inaugurate Buon Don Primary and Lower Secondary Boarding School, officially putting the facility into use for the 2026 - 2027 school year. Provincial Party Secretary, comrade Luong Nguyen Minh Triet and PPC Chairman, comrade Do Huu Huy presented gifts from General Secretary along with State President To Lam to the school's teachers and students. Provincial leaders, agencies, units, armed forces together with benefactors also presented numerous gifts, books as well as teaching and learning equipment to encourage teachers coupled with students at the beginning of the new school year.

Provincial Party Secretary Luong Nguyen Minh Triet stressed that putting inter-level boarding schools into use at the beginning of the new academic year marks a significant milestone for education in border areas. He urged the school to make effective use of the facility and build a safe alongside healthy educational environment; authorities at all levels and sectors should continue mobilising resources to provide additional books along with equipment, particularly to develop school libraries.

The Provincial Party Secretary expressed his hope that the new schools would help students in border areas nurture their dreams, gain knowledge and build resilience, contributing to the development of their homeland as well as the firm safeguarding of the national border areas.
