Expanding strategic cooperation with the UAE

As relations between Vietnam and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) continue to strengthen following the signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), Dak Lak province is actively deepening cooperation with UAE partners.

New cooperation space from complementary advantages

Recently, a delegation from the UAE Embassy in Vietnam, led by Ambassador Extraordinary along with Plenipotentiary Dr. Bader Abdulla Almatrooshi, visited Dak Lak province to explore investment and partnership opportunities across multiple sectors.

The delegation surveyed several potential sites in both the provincial eastern alongside western parts, including Bai Goc Port in the South Phu Yen Economic Zone,  examining prospects for developing resort tourism and high-end coastal services, visiting agricultural processing enterprises, cold storage facilities as well as export packaging systems serving international markets, together with coffee and fruit growing areas combined with high-quality agricultural cooperative models.

The visit was regarded as a significant milestone, opening prospects for practical cooperation between Dak Lak together with UAE enterprises as well as investors in the coming period. Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, comrade Dang Thi Thuy, noted that the UAE is considered a strategic gateway for Dak Lak agricultural products to access the vast Halal market in the Middle East. The province plans to develop value-chain-linked production models to build large-scale raw material zones with consistent quality standards, enabling deeper integration into global supply chains.

According to Ambassador Bader Almatrooshi, demand in the UAE market for Dak Lak agricultural products remains substantial, particularly for coffee coupled with fruit, although export turnover is still modest and growth potential remains considerable. He affirmed that the UAE would support connectivity efforts to promote exports of the provincial key products, while also introducing as well as encouraging enterprises specialising in energy, transport and logistics sectors to invest in the locality.

Turning potential into concrete cooperation

Dak Lak is considered to hold strong cooperation potential with UAE partners thanks to its advantages in large-scale agriculture, renewable energy, logistics alongside processing industries.

During the working session with the UAE Embassy delegation, Dak Lak proposed cooperation orientations centred on three strategic pillars: energy security, food security and green economic development associated to digital transformation. In the energy sector, the province plans to coordinate research on developing the coastal deep-water port area into a regional-scale energy storage as well as distribution hub, while also calling for investment in wind, solar and biomass power projects. In agriculture, the locality aims to develop high-quality Halal agricultural along with food supply chains serving the Middle Eastern market.

“The locality is actively preparing a portfolio of key projects together with a range of incentive policies to encourage UAE enterprises to explore investment opportunities. Concurrently, Dak Lak will send a delegation to attend the upcoming sixth session of the Vietnam - UAE Intergovernmental Committee in order to strengthen connectivity, promote exports and attract investment into sectors where the locality has strengths”, PPC Chairman Do Huu Huy said.
