Smart education on a digital platform

Implementing the project of “Strengthening the Application of Information Technology and Digital Transformation in Education along with Training in the 2022 - 2025 period, with a vision toward 2030”, Dak Lak provincial education sector has promoted digital transformation (DX) across multiple areas.

During the recent years, the IT application has been implemented synchronously by the education sector from the management level to educational institutions, creating a foundation for improving the teaching and learning quality.

So far, 100% of documents exchanged between the Department of Education and Training as well as its affiliated units are conducted online and digitally signed through the iDesk system. Schools are gradually streamlining paper records, applying electronic grade books, electronic student records, while piloting digital student records, etc.

At Luong Van Chanh High School for Gifted (Tuy Hoa ward), DX has generated significant improvements in teaching and learning. According to Principal Huynh Tan Chau, 100% of the teachers’ lesson plans alongside teaching schedules in the school have been digitized. Many teachers use software to create examinations, build online question banks, and utilize modern teaching support tools.

In addition to innovating teaching methods, the education sector also prioritised investment in technological infrastructure; STEM education has now been implemented in 100% of schools. Furthermore, many schools have developed digital libraries and equipped them with internet-connected computers, enabling students easier access to learning combined with research resources.

Along with many schools provincewide, Cao Ba Quat High School is gradually realizing its goal of building a “smart school”. The school emphasizes integrating digital capabilities and applying AI in teaching, producing encouraging outcomes.

According to Principal Le Thi Thao, the school has built an online learning materials system including lectures, learning materials, tests, together with exams on a digital platform. In particular, 100% of the school’s professional records, grade books, and electronic student records have been digitized as well as synchronised with the Department of Education and Training. All teachers know how to utilize AI tools such as ChatGPT coupled with Gemini to develop lesson plans, design digital learning materials, and create exam matrices. Moreover, students are also trained in safe information retrieval skills, responsible AI usage, alongside submitting assignments through the learning management system.

Director of the Department of Education and Training, Ms. Le Thi Thanh Xuan, stated that comprehensive DX has become an essential requirement to improve the efficiency of sector management, school administration, enhance the quality of teaching alongside learning, while meeting the national DX requirements. The education sector has gradually formed a digital ecosystem in teaching, testing, and evaluation activities; simultaneously deploying a synchronized educational management information systems combined with industry databases.

Along with investing in technological infrastructure, the industry also focuses on training digital capabilities for teachers, administrators, staff, and students; which is a key factor in effectively applying IT, creating a solid foundation for building a smart education system in the coming time.
