Local authorities accompanying businesses in the digital age

Amid the widespread development of digital economy, local authorities are not only managing but also partnering with businesses and cooperatives to apply technology along with digital transformation to enhance product value.

Asserting that the application of science, technology and digital transformation are essential requirements in the development trend, local authorities have implemented various policies as well as activities to support applying digital technology and exploiting social media platforms, contributing to bringing local products to more regions; while opening up a direction for digital economic development.

For instance, Buon Ho ward has developed e-commerce pages on social media platforms such as Dacsanbuonho (TikTok) and Buon Ho Economic Information page (Facebook); while organizing livestreams to introduce and promote OCOP products on these social media platforms to bring local agricultural products to consumers. During the livestream program, numerous local OCOP products were showcased alongside promoted to consumers.

Comrade Nguyen Ngoc Hung, Chairman of Buon Ho Ward People’s Committee, shared that organizing livestreams not only introduces and promotes local OCOP products but also promotes the image, people, potential, combined with strengths of the ward.

Similarly, Ea Kao ward also organized a livestream program on social media platforms including Facebook, Zalo OA, TikTok, etc. to introduce traditional brocade weaving products and promote the community tourism model of Tong Ju village. In addition, the livestream programs also feature the overall natural landscape, cultural living space, cuisine, and experiential tourism associated with the working together with production life of the people to spread the image of Ea Kao ward’s distinctive identity, in the trend of green and sustainable tourism development.

The provincial sectors alongside localities have also coordinated to organize training courses on technology application and digital transformation for business owners coupled with households; holding trade networking conferences, providing financial and technical support enabling businesses, cooperatives, as well as households so that they can invest in machinery upgrades, improve production lines, and strengthen brand development, etc. Through these efforts, numerous contracts have been signed, the consuming market has expanded, creating new directions for products.

“Along with organizing livestreams to introduce and promote products, our business also receives capital support to invest in high-tech applications for production to improve product quality as well as affirm brand value in the market,” said Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Tham, Deputy Director of Macca Dak Lak Company Limited.

The support from all levels of government is not limited to administrative documents but has truly permeated production activities. Despite remaining challenges regarding human resources, technological infrastructure, combined with initial investment costs, with the close collaboration among various sectors, local authorities will contribute to enhancing the competitiveness of businesses and production, while trading households on their development path in the digital age.
