Women’s strength in the modern era

In the modern era, women in Dak Lak are increasingly asserting themselves through self-reliance, innovative thinking and a determination to advance.

Recognising the potential of Ruby guava, Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich from Hamlet 4, in Ea Sup Commune, has researched as well as developed a range of processed products, including Briet Organic guava leaf tea, Ruby guava wine and guava juice.

She has also established the Ea Sup Guava Growing Group, bringing together five farming households, providing cultivation guidance while purchasing produce in line with seasonal harvests. Covering 2 hectares, the model provides regular employment for 3 - 5 workers, each earning an average monthly income of 6 - 8 million VND. She has also adopted FaceFarm software along with QR codes to manage the growing area and ensure product traceability.

While Ms. Bich has focused on innovation to increase agricultural produce value, women at the Phu Tan sedge mat weaving craft village in O Loan Commune demonstrate their strength through perseverance in preserving traditional crafts and overcoming hardship.

Her perseverance helps preserve the traditional craft while enabling local women to earn a more stable livelihoods.

Nurturing family values

Women’s strength in the modern era is also reflected in their ability to build equal, progressive and happy families.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, Chairwoman of the Krong Ana Commune Women's Union, said that, alongside helping members improve their livelihoods, the union places particular emphasis on raising awareness of building prosperous, progressive combined with happy families, promoting gender equality, fostering a sense of responsibility among family members and ensuring children's education.

For women to fulfil their potential, individual efforts must be accompanied by support from families, communities along with women's organisations. Initiatives to support entrepreneurship, improve digital skills, create jobs and provide guidance on building happy families should remain priorities, particularly for ethnic minority women alongside those facing difficult circumstances.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Thai, Chairwoman of the Dak Lak Provincial Women's Union, enabling women to realise their potential in the modern era requires continuous learning, adapt proactively to change and nurture their aspirations for advancement. Support from families, communities together with women's organisations will enable women affirm their worth, build happy lives and contribute to the homeland development.
