The Dak Lak Provincial Durian Association has reviewed preparations for the Guinness World Records attempt, "The world's longest pickup truck convoy carrying durians".

Preparations being under way for the Guinness World Records attempt, "The World's longest pickup truck convoy carrying durians".

The record attempt, themed "Dak Lak durian journey - connecting to the world", is one of 15 flagship activities of the 2026 Dak Lak Durian Festival. Organised by the Dak Lak Provincial Durian Association, the event aims to create a signature highlight for the festival, elevate the Dak Lak durian brand internationally while strengthening linkages across the agricultural value chain.

The programme is scheduled to take place on August 16, 2026, with approximately 500 pickup trucks transporting 100-150 tonnes of durians. At Ho Tan An Square in Krong Pac commune, organisers will arrange 102 vehicles to spell out "DAK LAK", symbolising the provincial 102 commune-level administrative units. The convoy will then proceed from Ho Tan An Square to Vo Nguyen Giap Boulevard. The event is expected to attract 1,000-1,500 direct participants alongside 20,000-30,000 spectators.

Addressing the meeting, comrade Tran Hong Tien, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, emphasised that the programme is a flagship coupled with breakthrough highlight of the 2026 Dak Lak Durian Festival. To ensure the event is organised safely, successfully and in full compliance with Guinness World Records requirements, he urged the Provincial Durian Association to proactively identify any difficulties or bottlenecks so that the Organising Committee can promptly direct relevant departments, agencies together with local authorities to provide coordinated support.

Regarding traffic management, local authorities along the convoy route, including Krong Pac commune, Ea Knuec commune and Tan Lap ward, have been instructed to deploy personnel at key intersections to regulate traffic. They are also required to implement temporary traffic restrictions at the Hoa Binh T-junction while the convoy passes through.

The Provincial Durian Association has been assigned to coordinate closely with the provincial police to ensure security coupled with public order. It has also been instructed to urgently appoint team leaders for each vehicle group, provide convoy operation training, review the operational scenario, while ensuring full readiness for the official rehearsal ahead of the event.
