A delegation from the Standing Board of the Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee, led by comrade Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Head of the provincial National Assembly Delegation, has conducted an on-site inspection of preparations for activities coupled with events to be held as part of the 2026 Dak Lak Durian Festival.

The delegation surveyed venues for the opening ceremony and the durian tower check-in area at March 10 Square in Buon Ma Thuot Ward. Themed “Dak Lak Durian - Connecting for Greater Reach”, opening ceremony is scheduled to take place at 8 p.m. on August 15, 2026. At the durian tower check-in area, a model dubbed the “Durian Basket” features a 16-metre-wide base, stands 18 metres high, combining a traditional Vietnamese carrying basket with a durian fruit.
At the provincial Cultural and Tourism Centre, the delegation inspected an exhibition, promotion as well asshowcase area dedicated to durian, OCOP products. Spanning 400 standard booths, the exhibition will showcase durian products, OCOP goods and a wide range of distinctive products from localities nationwide. It will also feature promotional alongside experiential activities for residents and visitors.
The delegation inspected preparations for Durian Food Festival at Eco Palace in Buon Ma Thuot Ward, expected to feature nearly 200 booths. As part of the festival, 102 dishes incorporating Dak Lak durian will be prepared and displayed in an effort to establish a Vietnamese record. The programme will also include beverage-making demonstrations combined with performances, street art, traditional musical instruments, acoustic music, circus acts and magic shows.
The Provincial Party Secretary asked agencies together withunits to thoroughly review organisational plans, placing security and safety given top priority, while proactively preparing contingency measures for adverse weather. He also stressed environmental sanitation, food safety, as well as thorough preparations to meet visitors’ needs, particularly in terms of hotel and restaurant capacity. Traffic management measures should be proactively managed to minimise congestion throughout festival activities.
Provincial Party Secretary, comrade Luong Nguyen Minh Triet stressed that Durian Festival is not merely an occasion to honour durian growers alongside the provincial key agricultural product, but also an opportunity for Dak Lak to promote its potential, attract investment, further socio-eco development. Agencies and localities were urged to step up communications, publicity together with promotion, gradually building Durian Festival into a traditional event with a view to registering it as a national-level festival.
