Accelerating site clearance for coastal road project

From strong determination by local authorities to active support from residents, the “30-day intensive site-clearance campaign” is creating a fast-paced momentum along construction sites of the coastal road project.

Fostering public consensus and support

Mr. Tran Anh Tu’s family in Xuan Duc Quarter, Binh Kien Ward, recently voluntarily dismantled their home and hand over land for construction of coastal road project. That spirit of cooperation has been spreading strongly across Binh Kien, where a 2.27km section of route passes through locality. Notably, many households agreed to sign site-handover commitments during their first working sessions with authorities. Numerous officials along with Party members have also taken lead in complying with project policies, creating a widespread positive impact throughout the community.

According to comrade Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, Deputy Secretary of Xuan Duc Quarter Party Cell, local residents all hope project will soon be completed, reshaping urban landscape while generating fresh momentum for development across provincial eastern part.

In Tuy An Nam Commune, by May 15 authorities had handed over 3.4km out of total 4.6km section, equivalent to more than 73.91% of route length. Local authorities also completed ownership verification for 100% of affected land plots, fully achieving targets set for first 10 days of campaign.

Simultaneously, Tuy An Dong Commune has transferred 5.69km out of total 7.68km section, fulfilling 74% of planned target. Local authorities mobilised police units, military forces, Fatherland Front committees alongside mass organisations to assist residents with house relocation as well as stabilisation of living conditions in new resettlement areas.

At O Loan Commune, where project extends across 7.6km, site-clearance work has emerged as a standout example. To date, locality has handed over 7.04km of land, equivalent to more than 92.63% of total workload. Authorities have additionally transferred 87.76% of construction site for Dong No Resettlement Zone to investor, achieving 250% of target assigned for first 10 days of intensive campaign.

Determined to meet project schedule

According to Management Board of Investment and Construction Projects in the Eastern Region, coastal road project has total length of more than 22km with total investment capital exceeding 3.8 trillion VND. Project passes through five communes and wards, affecting more than 1,500 households. As of May 15, authorities had handed over 17.05km of construction site, equivalent to more than 77% of entire route length.

According to Steering Committee for Site Clearance in O Loan Commune, in order to ensure “30-day intensive site-clearance campaign” stays on schedule, locality has deployed working groups directly to each village and household to conduct public outreach, coordinate land as well as asset inventories, and explain compensation combined with resettlement support policies. By June 3, commune is expected to hand over more than 93 per cent of site area serving project construction and complete 100% of land handover before August 31.

Concurrently, according to comrade Nguyen Quoc Thang, Chairman of Binh Kien Ward People’s Committee, locality is accelerating campaign implementation with urgent and determined spirit.

“We consider this a key political task, therefore all officials, civil servants and grassroots forces are fully concentrating on site-clearance work. Regardless of weekends or after-office hours, working groups continue visiting households directly to conduct public outreach, encourage cooperation, resolve emerging difficulties and ensure legitimate rights alongside interests of residents. Ward’s goal is to build highest possible consensus in order to hand over land on schedule, contributing to accelerated construction progress of coastal road project, an infrastructure project carrying particularly important significance for socio-eco development of both locality and province,” comrade Nguyen Quoc Thang emphasised.
