Digital transformation (DT) not only drives major changes in governance alongside production, but also opens up new solutions for occupational safety and hygiene (OSH).
Technology enhances workplace safety
As the operator and manager of the power system covering more than 18,000 km2, with a workforce of 1,639 employees, Dak Lak Power Company (PC Dak Lak) has consistently identified OSH as a core priority across all production along with business operations.
PC Dak Lak has introduced electronic construction logbooks while applying AI in image analysis for evaluating construction quality in line with EVNCPC’s project timelines. The company has also digitalised power-grid technical management through the PMIS platform and shifted from periodic maintenance to condition-based maintenance.

According to Mr. Huynh Quoc Long, Deputy Director of PC Dak Lak, these solutions help minimise risks, promptly identify potential safety hazards, improve reliability of electricity supply and better protect workers’ health. In the coming period, the company will continue modernising the power grid, strengthening skills training as well as enhancing compliance with safety procedures among employees in order to build a safe and professional working environment.
At Vuong Thanh Cong Production and Trading Co., Ltd. in Ea Kao ward, modernising production processes has not only improved product quality but also contributed to better working conditions. In the coffee roasting combined with grinding area, machinery operates in an enclosed system. Numerous stages, including raw material transport, roasting, grinding and packaging, have been automated, reducing manual labour while limiting workers’ exposure to dust as well as high temperatures. According to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thu, Head of the Technical Department at the company, the modern machinery system has reduced physical strain on workers while creating a cleaner and more ventilated workplaces.
Towards a modern and safe workplace
The application of science and technology (S&T) in OSH is becoming an inevitable trend in development of modern enterprises.
Against this backdrop, the province has identified the continued promotion of S&T and DT in OSH as a key task. Support will be strengthened for enterprises to improve working conditions, particularly in sectors with a high occupational accident risks such as construction, mining, mechanical engineering, metallurgy alongside chemicals. Simultaneously, greater coordination will be promoted among authorities, enterprises and trade unions in training, improving vocational skills while supporting workers access new technologies and adapt to DT coupled with current labour market demands.

This year’s Action Month on Occupational Safety and Hygiene carries the theme: “Innovating management and improving OSH effectiveness in the digital era”.
According to PPC Vice Chairman, comrade Dao My, OSH in the DT era must be modernised through the stronger S&T application in management together with production. Enterprises should invest in automated machinery, safety management software, alongside monitoring and warning systems to minimise risks as well as improve workplace conditions for employees.
At the same time, greater attention should be paid to digital skills and safety training for workers, while promoting the movement “Good labour, creative labour” while encouraging application of new technologies in production.
