Digital data – “Passport” for Dak Lak durian

To resolve procedural bottlenecks alongside standardize export agricultural products, Dak Lak province has officially launched an intensive “30-day-and-night” campaign to digitize coupled with connect data regarding durian growing area codes and packing facility codes.

The campaign focuses all resources on finalizing documentation for 280 growing area codes (covering 7,500 hectares) along with 42 packing facilities that already satisfy export standards, while also processing 338 growing area codes (covering 6,500 hectares) together with over 93 packing facilities currently completing applications for novel code issuance.

The most significant breakthrough is the comprehensive shift from manual management to a digital environment; this involves pinpointing field coordinates on the Vietmap platform integrated with local land databases, while strictly linking growing area codes to land plot identification codes as stipulated by the Land Law. The novel regulations also eliminate barriers regarding the cultivation area together with farming methods by eliminating minimum area requirements, simultaneously allowing code issuance for intercropped land.

Comrade Nguyen Quoc Manh, Deputy Director of the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection under Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, noted that Resolution No. 36 has addressed the sluggishness in issuing growing area coupled with packing facility codes by enabling end-to-end processing via the National Public Service Portal alongside delegating implementation directly to Communal People’s Committees. However, he cautioned that the digitization campaign must be executed with great caution in conjunction with a methodical approach to ensure rapid code issuance without causing bottlenecks that could disrupt goods movement or exports. Replacing the “pre-verification” mechanism with “self-declaration and self-responsibility” model combined with post-verification has not only reduced the processing time to between 3 and 10 days but also eliminated procedural hurdles that had previously caused delays lasting months.

Bringing transparency to the export supply chain

Practical experience at the local level shows that digitizing growing-area data is no longer merely a requirement imposed by management agencies; it has become a vital necessity for cooperatives together with businesses.

Mr. Tran Van Thang, Director of the Krong Pac Green Agricultural Cooperative, which manages over 120 hectares of linked durian orchards, shared that products cultivated according to proper protocols now have the opportunity to obtain codes, rapidly accessing export markets. Transparent data serves as the foundation for Vietnamese durian to confidently enhance its international competitiveness.

Focusing on fundamental solutions, Ms. Dang Thi Thuy, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, emphasized that Dak Lak province is rolling out a “30-day-and-night” campaign to digitize data covering land, growing area codes, along with packing facility codes. Beyond supporting the 2026 crop season, this initiative aims to establish a foundation for a sustainable durian value chain. By 2030, the province aims for at least 30% of the agricultural sector undergo digital transformation, turning the agricultural product digital map into a transparent management tool, fostering trust among consumers and international partners.

To ensure the campaign is implemented synchronously alongside substantively, PPC Vice Chairman, comrade Nguyen Thien Van issued a directive: The peak campaign must be executed with a spirit of prioritized focus, decisiveness, scientific rigor, quality, and efficiency. He stressed the need to strictly adhere to the principle of clarity regarding personnel, tasks, timelines, outcomes, responsibilities, combined with authority. The provincial departments, agencies, together with commune-level People’s Committees must proactively resolve obstacles for businesses alongside the residents without ever compromising on management standards; while procedures should be simplified, quality control must remain rigorous, ensuring that the agricultural product reputation coupled with access to markets are never sacrificed for short-term convenience.
