Buon Ma Thuot Stadium covers a total area of 38,794.8 m², located in the centre of Buon Ma Thuot ward, with a seating capacity of approximately 20,000. Built in 1984, after more than four decades of use, numerous facilities have deteriorated and suffered serious damage while several areas significantly affect urban aesthetics and environmental sanitation.

Following on-site inspections of stands, training areas, athlete accommodation along with degraded sections, comrade Luong Nguyen Minh Triet stressed the necessity of maintaining cultural and sports institutions such as the stadium to serve the organisation of cultural, physical training as well as sports activities. He also affirmed that repairing alongside  upgrading the facility would better meet political tasks and local residents’ demand.

The Provincial Party Secretary requested the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to coordinate with relevant departments combined with sectors to thoroughly review items that can be utilised for renovation and repair, ensuring operational safety, particularly stand system. For roads surrounding the stadium, which carry heavy traffic along with pedestrian flows, it is necessary to develop an overall spatial arrangement plan to ensure traffic safety, urban aesthetics and environmental standards.

Comrade Luong Nguyen Minh Triet emphasised that investment, repair as well as renovation plan for Buon Ma Thuot Stadium must be implemented within existing site boundaries, maintaining land-use function, without altering planning indicators or affecting any approved related plans.
