On the morning of September 17, in An Nien Hamlet, Tuy Hoa Ward, Dak Lak PPC held a ceremony marking the inauguration of 100 flood-resilient community shelters under Phase 1 of the project to construct flood-resilient community shelters in hamlets, villages and residential areas across Dak Lak Province.

Reporting at the ceremony, Mr. Le Cong Du, Deputy Director of the Department of Construction, said that Phase 1 of the project involved constructing 100 flood-resilient community shelters across 27 communes coupled with wards. The project has a total investment exceeding 170 billion VND, funded by the provincial budget.

Throughout implementation, departments, sectors along with localities actively coordinated on site allocation, communications, mobilisation and construction support, alongside the considerable efforts made by investors, contractors, officials, engineers and workers directly engaged at construction sites. In particular, the project received strong support as well as participation from local residents.

To date, all 100 houses have been basically completed, meeting the project’s requirements for flood prevention and emergency shelter. Final acceptance procedures have been completed for 60 facilities.

Addressing the ceremony, PPC Vice Chairman, comrade Nguyen Thien Van affirmed that the project to construct flood-resilient community shelters not only meets local residents' needs for cultural activities and meetings, but also provides safe spaces for evacuation alongside shelter during natural disasters, storms and floods. The commissioning of the 100 houses today provides a vivid demonstration of the Party together with State’s consistent viewpoint: putting people at the centre, with the protection of their lives and property as the foremost priority.

At the ceremony, provincial leaders presented gifts to households that had contributed to the project as well as households facing difficult circumstances. They also presented merit certificates from the PPC Chairman to five households that had voluntarily donated land for the construction of flood-resilient community shelters.
