On the morning of September 29, comrade Y Giang Gry Nie Knong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial Viet Nam Fatherland Front, received representatives of foreign non-governmental organisations (NGOs) attending the Congress of the Dak Lak Union of Friendship Organisations.

At the courtesy meeting, comrade Y Giang Gry Nie Knong expressed his pleasure at welcoming representatives from Buddhist Compassion Relief Tzu Chi (Tzu Chi/China (Taiwan)), Save the Children International (SCI/UK) and ActionAid International (AAI/Netherlands) to the Congress of the Dak Lak Union of Friendship Organisations. He also expressed sincere appreciation for the support coupled with cooperation extended by foreign NGOs to the province over the years.

Comrade Y Giang Gry Nie Knong said that, alongside advantages for economic development, Dak Lak still has numerous remote, isolated and border areas, as well as ethnic minority communities facing difficulties and requiring additional resources to support local residents. During the 2021 - 2025 period, the province received 153 aid packages from foreign NGOs, with a total committed funding of 13.71 million USD. In particular, during the recent floods, through the Dak Lak Union of Friendship Organisations, the province received eight emergency international aid packages from seven foreign NGOs, with a total value exceeding 56 billion VND.

Comrade Y Giang Gry Nie Knong expressed his hope that foreign NGOs would continue to support the province in the coming period, particularly through social welfare programmes, support for investment in school facilities, combined with assistance to disadvantaged areas and ethnic minority communities.

Representatives of the foreign NGOs expressed their desire to continue coordinating with the province in implementing community support programmes, focusing on education, healthcare, social welfare, livelihood improvement along with assistance to people affected by natural disasters. These efforts will contribute to strengthening solidarity and friendship while promoting cooperation between Dak Lak and international organisations.
