As part of the 2026 Dak Lak Durian Festival, the People's Committee of Krong Pac Commune organised the first in-orchard durian auction.

The initiative marks a significant milestone for Krong Pac commune, introducing a transparent and market-oriented trading mechanism that maximises benefits for durian growers while fostering long-term partnerships with export enterprises.

Opening the event, comrade Lai Duc Dai, Deputy Secretary of the Krong Pac Commune Party Committee and Chairman of the Krong Pac Commune People's Committee, said that with more than 3,000 hectares of durian orchards, Krong Pac has long been one of Dak Lak’s leading durian-producing areas. The in-orchard durian auction is the culmination of nearly a year of preparation, signalling a transition from traditional trading practices towards a modern, transparent as well as professional transaction model.

The highlight of the auction was Lot No. 01, comprising 10 Dona durian orchards covering a combined area of 14.36 hectares, with an estimated yield of around 350 tonnes. All orchards belong to a cooperative group certified under VietGAP standards and have undergone rigorous testing confirming they are free from cadmium coupled with other heavy metals, meeting requirements for official export.

The Organising Committee publicly announced the auction regulations, allowing enterprises to inspect the orchards on site before participating in an open and transparent bidding process. With a starting price of 55,000 VND per kilogramme, 10 enterprises alongside cooperatives from both within and outside the province competed through two rounds of sealed bidding.

Nguyen Thuan Import-Export Co., Ltd. won Lot No. 01 with a successful bid of 68,000 VND per kilogramme, bringing the total contract value to 23.8 billion VND. The company also officially signed the sales contract and auction minutes during the event.

Following the success of the inaugural auction, Krong Pac commune will continue preparations for a second auction, expected to cover up to 50 hectares of durian orchards holding approved growing area codes and meeting stringent quality inspection standards.

The successful auction not only brought encouragement to durian growers and businesses but also underscored Dak Lak’s steady progress towards deeper integration into global agricultural markets.
