Anticipating a “Golden” festival season

The 2026 Dak Lak Durian Festival, themed “Dak Lak Durian - Connecting and Reaching Further”, marks a strategic turning point as the event honoring the “king of fruits” has been elevated to the provincial-level scale for the first time. This represents not merely an expansion in scope or the number of activities, but a significant shift in agricultural economic thinking aimed at establishing Dak Lak durian as a national along with international brand, thereby driving the provincial green, sustainable economy.

As the locality that initiated the concept as well as possesses experience from previous successful durian festivals, Krong Pac commune plays a pivotal role in this campaign. In addition to participating in the general activities, Krong Pac commune is organizing durian orchard auctions coupled with orchard experience tours; an expanded Cultural and Culinary Festival of ethnic communities in Krong Pac, combined with a trade fair showcasing OCOP products alongside local agricultural potential; artistic photography exhibitions featuring durian; cultural performance contests, culinary preparation and display competitions, booth decoration contests; together with folk games, etc.

According to comrade Lai Duc Dai, Chairman of the Communal People’s Committee, the locality is setting up a livestreaming station for online durian sales hosted by the communal leaders, while ensuring adequate facilities, equipment, along with product quality and quantity for the sales sessions. For local communities, the event is also expected to stimulate agritourism models, foster high-quality agricultural production, enhance the OCOP products’ added value, combined with transform specialized farming areas into attractive eco-cultural tourism destinations.

Comrade Le Thi Thu Hien, Standing Deputy Secretary of Cu M’gar Communal Party Committee, stated that the Committee has urged local agencies, units, the Front Working Boards, in conjunction with socio-political organizations to uphold their responsibility sense. They are encouraged to proactively and effectively implement the support activities resonating deeply with the community, thereby contributing to the overall success for the 2026 Dak Lak Durian Festival. In this spirit, the Cu M’gar Communal Farmers’ Association is collaborating with various sectors to organize food safety training, prepare standardized production areas, as well as guide farmers in strictly adhering to safe cultivation practices to ensure high-quality durian for visiting tourists. These efforts aim to promote the Cu M’gar land alongside showcase the local potential coupled with advantages to a wide range of tourists, businesses together with investors.

Concurrently, comrade Ngo Viet Nghia, Vice Chairman of Buon Ho Ward People’s Committee, noted that the 2026 Dak Lak Durian Festival serves to honor durian growers, facilitate supply-demand connections, promote the durian brand, as well as enhance agricultural economic development linked with services alongside tourism. Consequently, support activities within the ward are being implemented earnestly, closely and seamlessly coordinated with provincial-level departments coupled with agencies.

With systematic and synchronized direction along with implementation, extending from the provincial level down to every commune, village, and hamlet, Dak Lak province holds high expectations for this major event. The sweet flavor of Central Highlands durian, combined with the rich cultural identity and hospitality of Dak Lak’s diverse ethnic communities, will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on visitors.
