Beyond ensuring the full and timely implementation of preferential policies for people with meritorious service, Dak Lak province has rolled out a wide range of tribute programmes, from improving living conditions while providing housing assistance to searching for, recovering and identifying fallen soldiers’ remains.

Keeping the tradition of gratitude alive

According to Mr. Luong Thao Nguyen, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Kien ward, alongside the full implementation of policies and benefits, the locality has mobilised organisations along with community groups to care for people with meritorious service, organised meetings, visits and gift presentations for beneficiary families, promoted revolutionary traditions among more than 1,000 Youth Union members together with students, refurbished memorial sites and incense-offering ceremonies as well as candlelight vigils. The ward has also launched the “Stone benches of gratitude - Honouring fallen heroes” initiative, donating stone benches to memorial houses, monuments and war memorials dedicated to fallen soldiers.

In Buon Don border commune, tribute activities are closely integrated with patriotic education coupled with support for people with meritorious service. The commune organised a gathering honouring 25 wounded soldiers, sick veterans and beneficiary families, held flower as well as incense offering ceremonies in memory of fallen heroes, and coordinated the DNA sample collection from relatives of unidentified martyrs. According to Mr. Nguyen Canh Tung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Buon Don commune, honouring people with meritorious service has become a shared responsibility of Party committees, authorities and the community.

Province-wide, support for people with meritorious service continues to be implemented comprehensively. During the first half of 2026, the province received 1,428 policy beneficiary applications alongside processed 1,388 eligible cases. Home-based convalescent care was provided for 911 beneficiaries at a cost exceeding 2.2 billion VND, while convalescent care programmes were also organised both within and outside the province.

Marking this year's War Invalids and Martyrs Day, the province implemented gift programmes funded by both the central coupled with provincial governments. More than 27,200 gifts from the State President, worth over 8.23 billion VND, were presented to people with meritorious service, while approximately 35,656 provincial gifts, with a total value exceeding 21.5 billion VND, were delivered directly to policy beneficiaries.

Mr. Phan Dai Thang, Deputy Director of the Department of Home Affairs, said: "The implementation of preferential policies for people with meritorious service has long been regarded by the province as a regular political task. Alongside ensuring that all entitlements are provided fully and promptly, the province continues to promote digital transformation in the management combined with allowance payments, coupled with implementing practical tribute activities to ensure that people with meritorious service and their families receive increasingly better care".

Strengthening care for people with meritorious service

The Department of Home Affairs currently manages more than 128,000 beneficiary records, including over 94,000 files relating to people with meritorious service and their relatives. Monthly allowances are provided to more than 17,500 beneficiaries, with total monthly expenditure exceeding 52 billion VND.

Dak Lak is continuing to implement a range of tasks along with solutions in preparation for the 80th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day. During 2026-2027, the province will focus on refining preferential policies under with the two-tier local government model, upgrading while refurbishing all martyrs' cemeteries and memorial sites, modernising the Centre for the Rehabilitation of People with Meritorious Service, while promoting the nationwide movement in support of wounded soldiers, sick veterans together with families of fallen soldiers.

Comrade Ho Thi Nguyen Thao, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and PPC Permanent Vice Chairwoman, stressed that caring for people with meritorious service remains an important political responsibility. In the coming period, the province will continue to implement preferential policies effectively, mobilise broader social support and further improve the material alongside spiritual well-being of people with meritorious service and their families.
