Dak Lak Durian Festival 2026 expands in scale and stretches from the highlands to the coast

Dak Lak PPC has approved a plan for the organisation of Dak Lak Durian Festival 2026.

Under the theme “Dak Lak Durian - Connecting and reaching further”, the festival will take place from August 15, 2026 to September 2, 2026. The most notable feature is that the festival has officially been upgraded to provincial scale, alongside expansion of event space to Tuy Hoa ward and durian-growing communes across the province.

According to the plan, the festival will feature a series of 17 core activities. Particularly, there are two early communication events scheduled for April coupled with July 2026, including the production of video clips and livestreams showcasing “Durian flower pollination” process in Krong Pac commune, alongside thematic talk shows on cuisine as well as nutritional value of durian in Buon Ma Thuot ward.

The 15 official activities are expected to deliver a wide range of standout experiences. This year’s event will also introduce numerous new activities integrating digital technology while aiming to establish large-scale records. Highlights include a parade of 500 pickup trucks transporting durians from Krong Pac commune to Buon Ma Thuot ward to register for a Guinness record; the construction of the largest durian tower in Vietnam along Durian Street; and the establishment of a record featuring 101 durian-inspired dishes at the culinary festival.

Furthermore, the digital commerce programme “Each commune - One KOL, KOC selling durian online”, taking place from August 22 - 29, will feature the participation of content creators originating from China along with Thailand.

The durian together with OCOP product exhibition area will also become the largest ever organised, with 400 booths, combined with the Forum on Connecting Sustainable Durian Production and Consumption, scheduled for August 16 in Buon Ma Thuot ward, aiming to promote the signing of major export contracts.

Cultural and sports activities will also further diversify the festival experience, including the “Memories of the longhouse” live-action performance combined with 3D Mapping technology at the Dak Lak Museum; the grand music concert “Dak Lak rising and flourishing” on the evening of August 22 at March 10 Square; Tuy Hoa 2026 Run themed “Welcoming sunrise on sea” from September 1 - 2; and an artistic programme celebrating National Day on September 2, combined with the festival closing ceremony, at Phu Yen Square in Tuy Hoa ward.

The event is expected to create a strong driving force for development, affirm the position of Dak Lak’s key agricultural brand, and promote deep-processing projects, helping Dak Lak durian reach global markets.
