Dak Lak PPC has held a signing ceremony for a cooperation agreement with the Viet Nam Office of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF Vietnam) on natural resource management, biodiversity conservation and sustainable development across the province.

Attending the ceremony were PPC Vice Chairman, comrade Nguyen Thien Van; WWF Vietnam Director, Mr. Van Ngoc Thinh, together with representatives of the Forestry and Forest Protection Department, relevant departments, sectors combined with agencies.

Under the agreement, both sides will coordinate across multiple areas, including biodiversity conservation; protection of wildlife species and valuable ecosystems; marine conservation alongside plastic waste reduction; as well as promotion of sustainable agriculture, forestry and fisheries associated to nature conservation. They will also strengthen capacity as well as raise awareness among relevant stakeholders towards sustainable development goals.

Dak Lak PPC committed to creating favourable conditions for WWF Viet Nam to implement activities in the locality, while directing relevant agencies and units to coordinate in completing legal along with administrative procedures to ensure programmes alongside projects are implemented effectively. The province will also coordinate in receiving, allocating and effectively utilising support resources for cooperation activities.

For its part, WWF Viet Nam will coordinate with the province to implement activities in accordance with Vietnamese law, local development orientations and WWF priorities, while mobilising financial resources and additional support for projects on nature conservation, environmental protection together with sustainable development.

Addressing the ceremony, PPC Vice Chairman, comrade Nguyen Thien Van acknowledged WWF Viet Nam’s contributions to Dak Lak province over two decades, particularly in wildlife conservation, environmental protection and livelihood support for local communities.

The PPC Vice Chairman stressed that the signing of agreement was significant, providing a foundation for both sides to further strengthen as well as expand cooperation in a more systematic, long-term and effective manner. The agreement is expected to support the implementation of programmes and projects aligned with the provincial sustainable development orientation, enhance  officials’ capacity and improve livelihoods associated with natural resource conservation.

Comrade Nguyen Thien Van expressed confidence that, with experience and capacity of WWF Viet Nam together with determination of local authorities and relevant stakeholders, the cooperation activities would be implemented effectively, contributing to biodiversity conservation, sustainable natural resource management and the provincial socio-eco development.
