The PPC recently held a working session with the Department of Agriculture and Environment to review its state management performance, assess economic growth during the H1 of the year, while rolling out a growth-management scenario for the remaining months of 2026.

In the H1 of 2026, Agriculture and Environment sector growth reached 5.98%, exceeding the scenario target by 0.36 percentage points (5.62%), while production value at current prices was estimated at 25.607 trillion VND. Q2 growth alone hit 6.44%, surpassing the 5.75% scenario target by 0.69 percentage points, with production value reaching 14.544 trillion VND.

To help the province achieve GRDP growth of at least 10% in 2026, the Agriculture and Environment sector aims to maintain annual growth at 5.86% or higher. Over the final five months, from August through December, it is expected to generate approximately 66.177 trillion VND in production value.

Participants focused on measures for addressing difficulties coupled with bottlenecks facing Agriculture and Environment sector. Key priorities include tighter management of growing-area codes, packing facilities, pesticide residues and traceability, alongside effective implementation of the “30-day-and-night” campaign for data digitisation, integrate codes for durian growing areas as well as packing facilities, and connectivity with the agricultural product traceability system.

The sector will prioritise removing bottlenecks involving land, site clearance and land-data digitalisation; accelerating dossier along with procedural completion for auctions of mineral extraction rights; as well as supporting large-scale livestock projects complete required procedures and begin operations promptly. It will also strengthen management, exploitation combined with efficient use of land and water resources, step up environmental protection, while finalising sector-specific databases.

Giving directions at the meeting, PPC Chairman, comrade Do Huu Huy called for a decisive shift from “output management” towards “value-added management”, with greater emphasis on improving quality and export shares of key products, particularly durian along with coffee. He urged the department to tackle land-related bottlenecks involving agricultural and forestry enterprises, unlock irrigation resources, accelerate issuance of growing-area codes, as well as ensure capital disbursement stays on schedule.

In particular, disaster prevention together with response must follow an “early action, proactive preparedness” approach to avoid being caught off guard, he said. Department leaders must immediately inspect and address high-risk landslide sites in four localities recently issued with warnings, maintain round-the-clock readiness at key reservoirs and dams, alongside take every possible measure to protect residents’ lives. The entire sector must strictly adhere the “six clear responsibilities and one consistent approach” principle, ensuring delivery of the 2026 growth target.
