In the new development space, enterprises have greater opportunities to expand operations, adopt technology, improve management capacity as well as participate more deeply in value chains. The goal of developing Dak Lak’s private sector is not simply to increase the number of enterprises but also to build a capable, competitive and well-connected business community.

The new development space opens up more opportunities for enterprises in Dak Lak to leverage strengths in agriculture, processing, trade, services, tourism and logistics. Agriculture continues to play an important role, with major commodities offering potential not only in raw material production but also in deep processing, brand building and the development of high-value supply chains.

Seizing these opportunities, some enterprises have shifted from purchasing, preliminary processing while exporting raw materials to investing in raw material areas, processing technology, traceability and compliance with international standards.

September 2 Dak Lak Import-Export Co., Ltd. (Simexco DakLak) is among the enterprises undergoing this transition. The company is focusing on developing raw material areas through linkages with enterprises, cooperatives and farmers, gradually establishing large-scale production zones that meet international standards. Simultaneously, it is accelerating the application of AI, IoT, GIS alongside big data in growing-area management and supply-chain optimisation, while researching and developing an agricultural logistics centre to reduce costs as well as enhance competitiveness.

In the fisheries sector, Nguyen Hung Co., Ltd. has established a linkage chain covering tuna fishing, purchasing, processing, consumption combined with exports. According to Mr. Nguyen Hung Hoa, Director of Nguyen Hung Co., Ltd., cooperation with fishermen enables the enterprise to secure a stable supply of raw materials and increase product value, while coordinating technology adoption in fishing and preservation to reduce post-harvest losses.

Enhancing competitiveness

To enhance competitiveness within value chains, enterprises need to strengthen cooperation and share resources, technology along with markets. This requirement is particularly evident in Dak Lak, where agriculture remains one of the key economic sectors alongside most enterprises are small and medium-sized.

Within these chains, large enterprises take the lead, cooperatives and production households supply raw materials, while small and medium-sized enterprises contribute through processing, services, supporting industries as well as distribution, thereby reinforcing overall competitiveness. Linkages are increasingly essential as export markets impose stringent requirements on quality, traceability, the environment and social responsibility. Free trade agreements expand opportunities to access markets but also require enterprises to modernise production methods, improve management capacity alongside reorganise supply chains.

Mr. Vu Ba Phu, Director General of the Trade Promotion Agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, said that as they participate more deeply in domestic coupled with international markets, private enterprises must strengthen their ability to adapt to emerging requirements. Alongside brand building, enterprises need to focus on green transformation and comply with environmental, social along with governance (ESG) standards to enhance their ability to participate in international supply chains.

When policies provide a favourable framework, planning and infrastructure expand development space, combined with enterprises proactively adapt, resources can be connected to create more competitive value chains.
