The China (Guangxi) – Viet Nam (Dak Lak) Agricultural and Food Trade Promotion along with Business Connectivity Conference took place on September 19 in Nanning, Guangxi, China. The event was jointly organised by the Dak Lak Department of Industry and Trade, the Consulate General of Viet Nam in Nanning together with the Guangxi Department of Commerce.

At the conference, Mr. Nguyen Van Nhiem, Deputy Director of the Dak Lak Department of Industry and Trade, outlined the provincial potential, advantages, development space, key commodities combined with signature products. Enterprises in Dak Lak are focusing on improving product quality, adopting deep-processing technologies, implementing traceability systems, meeting market standards and building brands.

Dak Lak Province continues to support enterprises in production while rolling out trade promotion activities to boost the consumption of the provincial agricultural products and other goods. The provincial delegation called on enterprises from both sides to exchange information, forge connections alongside cooperate by leveraging their respective strengths to promote the consumption of agricultural and food products.

Mr. To Vu Luc, Deputy Consul in charge of trade at the Consulate General of Viet Nam in Nanning, emphasised that the advantages of geographical proximity, market proximity as well as complementary product structures mean that there remains considerable scope for expanding agricultural and food trade cooperation between Dak Lak coupled with Guangxi.

Given the large market, diverse demand and increasingly stringent requirements covering quality, food safety, traceability, packaging, labelling, technical standards combined with supply stability, enterprises from both sides need to better understand each other's needs, standards and production capacities to establish sustainable trade partnerships.

At present, the border-gate system along with transport infrastructure connecting Dak Lak and Guangxi are steadily improving, while trade facilitation is becoming increasingly effective. The conference sought to lay the foundation for stronger connectivity as well as exchanges among enterprises and promoting bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

At the conference, enterprises from Dak Lak and Guangxi displayed alongside introduced a range of products, including various types of green coffee beans, cold brew coffee, instant coffee, cashew kernels, bird's nest products, pepper and durian. Enterprises from both sides also exchanged information on production together with product preservation processes, payment methods, delivery and logistics, as well as explored market demand through B2B business-matching sessions.

At the conclusion of the conference, enterprises signed five memoranda of understanding on cooperation to promote the consumption of green coffee beans and bird's nest products.
