Construction is gathering pace across numerous coastal infrastructure projects in the provincial eastern area, expected to generate novel growth momentum by expanding development space and establishing new connections.

As the emergency project to address coastal erosion in An My - An Chan (Tuy An Nam commune) is being expedited, coastal residents have expressed great satisfaction. Construction is being expedited intensively for completion before this year's rainy season, three months ahead of schedule.

For coastal communities, completion of the embankment will not only help protect the coastline and homes, but also reinforce confidence in a safer as well as more stable coastal area.

In Giai Son hamlet (Tuy An Nam commune), the coastline consists of a low-lying stretch of beach frequently exposed to strong waves and winds. Over the years, the sea has gradually encroached inland, reaching more than 20 m in some locations. Households near the shore have constantly faced the risk of damage to homes, trees along with productive land, particularly during the rainy and stormy season.

Province-wide, the Provincial Eastern Area Construction Investment Project Management Board reports that there are 15 coastal erosion prevention projects with a combined length of approximately 20.455 km, representing total investment of approximately 2.378 trillion VND. The embankment system is gradually forming a solid protective line along the coastline, safeguarding residential areas, productive land, transport routes and infrastructure facilities further inland. Beyond serving as a “shield” against coastal erosion, the works provide a foundation for stabilising the coastal area and creating room for long-term development.

Accelerating coastal road projects

Alongside the embankment system, three coastal road projects are currently under construction, with a combined length of more than 25 km together with total investment of approximately 2.887 trillion VND. Once completed, the projects will help connect residential areas, urban areas, production zones and coastal tourist destinations, while strengthening connections with the provincial major transport arteries.

At the construction site of the coastal road section north of An Hai Bridge, which is nearly 7.5 km long, work is progressing at a rapid pace. Mr. Pham Van Nhat, Head of the Technical Department of Nang Ban Mai Investment Group JSC, representing the construction contractor, said the company has identified keeping the project on schedule as a key priority for the remaining months of the year. For sections where the site has just been handed over, the contractor is proactively adding personnel and equipment to make up for previous delays as well as accelerate construction to bring the project to completion ahead of schedule.

Mr. Dang Khoa Dam, Director of the Provincial Eastern Area Construction Investment Project Management Board, stressed that coordinated investment in coastal erosion prevention embankments and coastal roads is essential for protecting while expanding the provincial development space.

Beyond addressing immediate needs, these projects also provide a foundation for effectively harnessing the potential and advantages of the coastline. Once completed, the infrastructure will strengthen connections among localities, residential communities, production zones, urban areas combined with tourist destinations, thereby expanding investment opportunities, driving socio-eco development while improving living standards.
