10th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival: Striving for international recognition, putting local residents at the heart of its benefits

On the morning of October 31, the Steering Committee for the 10th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival 2027 held first meeting to discuss the draft festival plan and key related matters.

Themed “Buon Ma Thuot - World Capital of Robusta Coffee”, the 10th edition will mark a milestone in the festival’s history. Under the draft plan, 22 launch and promotional activities will take place from December 15, 2026 to April 4, 2027. Of these, 19 main events are scheduled for March 6 - April 4, 2027, with most activities concentrated on weekends. The opening ceremony is expected to take place on the evening of March 7, 2027, in Buon Ma Thuot Ward. The festival aims to attract approximately 1.3 million visitor arrivals, including those visiting, staying overnight and experiencing its activities.

Across the province, a series of distinctive events will also be organised to broaden the festival’s reach. Highlights include the Coffee Blossom Festival in Ea Knuec Commune; the Can Wine Festival in Lak; the Elephant Festival in Buon Don; Robusta Rock Fest and a light festival in Buon Ma Thuot Ward; as well as an airboat racing competition at Ea Kao Lake; etc. Following the meeting, the province plans to retain several signature attractions, including Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Street and the traditional longhouse experiential space, for regular tourism activities.

At the meeting, the Steering Committee also highlighted the need to secure adequate resources. It called for the prompt preparation of professional sponsorship packages, with clearly defined benefits for participating businesses; continued efforts to organise and promote the Fine Robusta Coffee Competition; alongside accelerated efforts to compile statistics on accommodation establishments...

PPC Chairman, comrade Do Huu Huy called for comprehensive changes to festival planning, communications and financial management mechanisms. The central objective, he stressed, is to ensure the event delivers tangible value, generates widespread public engagement as directly “touches the hearts” of local residents.

Concluding the meeting, Provincial Party Committee Secretary Luong Nguyen Minh Triet emphasised that the 10th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival is a key political, economic, cultural and tourism event for the province. Its guiding principle must be to place residents coupled with businesses at the centre, foster local pride and ensure residents are the primary beneficiaries. The festival must also promote long-term economic linkages, shape tourism itineraries connected with certified ecological coffee farms, and accelerate completion of the Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Street project.
