The PPC recently held a conference to review the 2026 Dak Lak Durian Festival.
Held under the theme “Dak Lak Durian - Connecting and Reaching Further” the festival featured 18 main activities, along with more than 40 vibrant supporting programmes organised across localities. During the festival, from August 14 to September 2, 2026, the province welcomed approximately 750,000 tourist arrivals, including 16,000 international visitors alongside more than 275,000 staying guests. Total tourism service revenue exceeded 1.295 trillion VND.
Around 600 tonnes of durian were consumed during the festival, generating approximately 44 billion VND in revenue. Notably, at the Durian Consumption Connectivity Forum, participating organisations signed nine memoranda of understanding on cooperation to develop the durian value chain, with a combined value of nearly 9 trillion VND.

The festival also generated significant media coverage, with more than 11,000 articles and 64 million views across social media platforms, alongside a series of impressive records, including the Guinness World Record for the “longest convoy of pickup trucks carrying durians in the world”; Vietnam Records for the “largest durian carrying basket model in Vietnam” as well as the “largest event featuring the processing and live preparation of 102 durian dishes in Vietnam”, among others. These achievements helped promote the image of Dak Lak durians, growing areas, culture combined with people both at home and abroad.
Alongside these achievements, the festival organising committee also acknowledged several shortcomings, including delays by several units in issuing implementation plans, a lack of professionalism in organising some activities, and insufficient funding mobilised through socialisation, etc.
Addressing the conference, PPC Vice Chairwoman, comrade Dao My asked the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to take the lead, in coordination with relevant agencies, in finalising the review report along with systematising effective models, shortcomings and lessons learned. On that basis, the department should proactively research as well as advise on the 2028 Dak Lak Durian Festival Project.
Relevant departments, sectors together with localities are required to review and assess the tasks assigned to them. Commune- coupled with ward-level People’s Committees should proactively select and promote cultural alongside tourism products and activities suited to their local strengths, while combining stronger transactions on e-commerce platforms with the promotion along with introduction of traditional products.
On the occasion, the PPC presented certificates of merit to 33 collectives and 58 individuals for their outstanding achievements in organising while supporting the 2026 Dak Lak Durian Festival.
