Creating new development spaces

Dak Lak province enjoys a breakthrough development opportunity thanks to its economic space stretching from the highlands to the sea region. This is not simply about expanding administrative boundaries, but about integrating previously separate advantages into a unified development whole.

Creating new dynamic zones

Under the adjusted planning orientation, Dak Lak province is restructuring its development space according to “three regions - three corridors - two centers - three growth poles” model to create a foundation for attracting investment capital.

In the West, the highland dynamic zone is identified as the provincial administrative, political, and economic center, with Buon Ma Thuot along with surrounding urban areas forming its core, which will become the hub for high-quality services, innovation, digital transformation, and emerging economic sectors.

In the East, the coastal economic dynamic zone is planned to become the gateway to the East Sea. Anchored by the South Phu Yen EZ, Bai Goc port, together with Vung Ro port, it is oriented to become a large-scale industrial, logistics, and port center.

Bridging these two dynamic zones lies a transitional midland region, playing a connecting role the sea and the highlands. This will be a region for developing high-tech agriculture, deep processing industry, as well as export-oriented manufacturing sectors.

Simultaneously, economic corridors will be formed based on strategic transportation systems. The eastern North-South corridor connects with the North-South Expressway and National Road 1; while its western counterpart is aligned with the Ho Chi Minh highway; meanwhile, the East-West corridor is formed from expressways connecting the Central Highlands with the coastal region.

Once infrastructure is completed, the distance between raw material sources, industrial zones, urban areas, and seaports will be significantly reduced, lowering logistics costs, improving market connectivity, while strengthening investment attractiveness.

Forming growth corridors

Dak Lak is gradually shaping new growth centers and poles, laying the foundation for a more dynamic development phase.

The highland growth center, with Buon Ma Thuot - Buon Ho as its core, continues to play a leading role in the provincial development. It is oriented towards becoming an administrative, economic, scientific-technological, combined with innovation center.

Simultaneously, the coastal growth center of Tuy Hoa - Dong Hoa serves as a gateway connecting to the sea, developing industry, logistics, trade, services, and tourism. Backed by the South Phu Yen EZ alongside its deep-water port system, the area has many advantages to attract large-scale industrial projects, logistics services, and marine economic activities.

The development of these two growth centers is creating a linkage between the highlands coupled with the sea – a distinct advantage for Dak Lak province after the merger. In addition, the province is also orienting its development towards three growth poles: Song Cau is identified as a growth pole for marine economy, tourism, and fisheries; Ea Drang focuses on developing urban, trade, services, and logistics linked to agricultural production areas; as well as M’Drak is positioned as a bridge between the highlands and the coast, developing processing industries, logistics, combined with ecotourism.

Dak Lak province is gradually building a multi-pole, multi-center development structure, in which each area is positioned with its own role but is interconnected and mutually supportive within a unified economic space.

According to comrade Do Huu Huy, Alternate Member of the Central Committee of Vietnam Communist Party, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and PPC Chairman, the merger presents a historic opportunity for Dak Lak province to create a new development space alongside effectively utilize the potential of both the highlands and the sea. Based on increasingly improved transportation infrastructure, the province aims to build a transparent and open investment environment, placing people coupled with businesses at the center of its service.

Dak Lak province is ready to open its doors to cooperation as well as welcome new investment flows, aiming to become a dynamic growth hub connecting the South Central Coast and Central Highlands regions.
