Leveraging its position as the southern urban gateway of Ba River, along with opportunities in trade and services, infrastructure investment, alongside digital transformation (DX), Phu Yen ward is developing a clear roadmap aimed at achieving its 11.5% growth target in 2026.
Expanding development space
Phu Yen ward entered 2026 with a new profile following the administrative restructuring. Its urban area has expanded beyond 44 km², with a population of over 62,400, providing greater scope for investment and development while also requiring reorganisation of infrastructure, public services, combined with administrative apparatus in a more coordinated and efficient manner.

In Q1 of 2026, several economic indicators showed positive momentum. Trade and service activities remained stable; the tourism sector welcomed around 110,000 visitors as well as generated approximately 11 billion VND in revenue; state budget revenue exceeded 33.5 billion VND, equivalent to more than 58% of the annual target.
To achieve the 11.5% growth target this year, Phu Yen ward People's Committee is implementing a broad range of measures aimed at unlocking investment resources, accelerating DX while fostering a more favourable environment for production and business activities.
The locality has identified infrastructure as "lifeblood" of growth. Under its 2026 - 2030 medium-term public investment plan, Phu Yen ward aims to mobilise more than 542 billion VND to upgrade and expand transport routes, improve schools, modernise technical infrastructure, along with developing new residential areas.
According to comrade Nguyen Xuan Canh, Chairman of the Phu Yen ward People's Committee: “The ward benefits from advantages in road, rail alongside waterway connectivity, proximity to an airport, access to the sea, and a well-established urban, trade together with services foundation. Most importantly, the administrative apparatus must operate efficiently, respond promptly to residents coupled with enterprises, and genuinely serve development needs”.
Growth linked to DX and green development
Rather than pursuing growth solely through economic expansion, Phu Yen ward has chosen a development path that integrates DX with improvements in residents' quality of life. The locality is prioritising building digital data infrastructure, with population and land databases. A land digitisation campaign, targeted for completion by October 2026, aims to facilitate the issuance of land-use right certificates while accelerating compensation, support and resettlement procedures for development projects.

In the economic sector, DX is being promoted across trade, tourism along with agricultural production. The ward encourages development of high-tech agricultural value chains, digital tourism, and broader online promotion of local products. It continues to identify trade combined with services as primary growth engines, while prioritising eco-tourism along the coast, logistics development, and modernisation of traditional markets in line with a civilised as well as modern orientation.
Comrade Mai Thi Ngoc Tuyet, Head of Phu Yen ward’s Division of Economy, Infrastructure and Urban Development, shared: "After rollout of the two-tier local government model, numerous responsibilities have been transferred directly to the ward level, significantly increasing workloads. However, resolving matters directly at the grassroots level provides greater convenience for residents alongside allows many procedures to be handled more quickly. This is also an important factor in improving the investment environment and sustaining development momentum”.
With positive Q1 outcomes along with a clearly defined roadmap, Phu Yen ward is entering an acceleration phase of 2026 with determination to transform advantages created by administrative restructuring into new growth drivers. The 11.5% growth target will serve as a measure of the new administrative apparatus effectiveness, ensuring that growth translates into tangible improvements in residents' daily lives.
